I promise you the first comment I will get on this is “how dare you serve something sticky at mahjong?!? Hear me out - eat first.

Or eat after. Or take snack breaks.

There is nothing that says you must put a charcuterie board in the middle of your game - but for photography sake - no one wants to see this set up in a separate room from the mahjong table.

It seems like everyone is playing mah jong right now. If you're in Seattle, you should check out The Women’s Collective for lessons or just to play. They have loads of classes and openings to play. It’s where I play regularly!

I’ve been taking the classes with my cousins so we have a little group when we travel for the holidays now! I highly recommend learning with friends or family so you can play at home. We’re heading to the ski condo this New Years and now that we all know how to play, I know what we are doing when we come off the hill.

Obviously you can buy cheese tags or skip the step. In general, people can figure out what things are - but they are a ‘nice to have.’ Recently I went to a ladies night where we made little tags for gifts and it had me thinking that these tags would be super handy around the holiday season.

I end up making dozens of charcuterie boards during the holiday season both for parties and for snack dinner. Because these are clay, they are easy to wash too.

All you need to make them is this clay, cookie cutters, letter stamps and your oven at 200 degrees.

STEP 1: Roll out the clay

STEP 2: Cut with the cookie cutter

STEP 3: Stamp the letters onto the clay

STEP 4: Bake about 20 minutes at 200 degrees. Let cool completely before moving.

Hosting a mah jong night is a really fun way to have the girls over during the holidays. With a game to play, snacks to eat, and probably a little bubbly, it’s the perfect night to celebrate friendship!

Also, this is a great way to combine groups of friends who may not know each other. Just have the tables swap people every few rounds so everyone gets a chance to talk and get to know each other.
